By Alejandro Mendoza Amaro, M.D., Ph.D., Ph.D. in Psychology & William Bernet, M.D., Ph.D., Forensic Psychiatrist.

According to the Declaration on Scientific Integrity in Responsible Research and Innovation (2016) published by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), it warns of the persistence of cases of scientific fraud and other malpractices, and therefore recommends countries to develop policies and regulations on scientific integrity or to review them if they already exist. In addition, UNESCO's Recommendation on Science and Scientific Researchers (2017) also calls on Member States to implement the established provisions, including on scientific integrity.
